Automation as a Time Saver! Part 1

Nov 24, 2021

Fellow Movers n’ Shakers! Happy almost Thanksgiving! If you’re reading this, I want to express particular gratitude, as I realize we are down to the wire with the holiday tomorrow and there are precisely 187 other things you could be doing at this very moment.

Let me cut to the chase and offer something immediately useful regarding TIME-- our most precious, nonrenewable resource. Yes, we all have the same 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week… but how do we choose to use it? What could we do to automate repeat processes and tasks to save/multiply time!?

According to bestselling author and business leadership speaker Rory Vaden, “Automation is to your time exactly as compounding interest is to your money.” WOW.

And if the word “automate” doesn’t settle well, go ahead and replace it with “create systems for success.” Any ideas come to mind, especially with 2022 right around the corner?

He adds, “Every time you create a process today saves you time tomorrow.” Mic Drop.

One simple way to start automating is to create (or update) your Top 10 FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about your work/organization. Investing even 30 minutes brainstorming the most common questions you get (and then preparing and posting brief responses to each) is bound to save you countless hours.

For those of us who aren’t “techies,” creating FAQs can be a fun, non-technical (and very affordable) way to save you both time and money! Hint: Recruit a friend to role play-- both creating and answering your FAQs.

I mentioned when I first kicked off the Visions Internships Blog a few weeks ago that we will be focusing on delivering valuable content for Young Professionals on the first and third Wednesdays of each month and for Organizational Leaders on the second and fourth Wednesdays. (If there’s a 5th Wednesday in a given month, I invite you to think about your own Bonus Blog topic.)

I hope, more than anything, these Blog posts uplift and empower you. Thank You so much for reading my thoughts.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with many laughs!

To Your Success,

Amy
