Who Are Your Peeps?

Feb 02, 2022

Does the month of February make you feel like the groundhog who saw his shadow– just wanting to hibernate ‘til spring?

Or maybe you finally make plans to socialize– only to have them cancel thanks to another snowstorm or Covid exposure.

How are you holding up?

Do you feel connected? Supported? What do you need?

I have something for you: CommUnity. A loving reminder: we humans have so much more in common than what divides us.

If you are feeling down or alone, I invite you to pause and identify the communities in your life. Family? Friends? Neighbors? Work? Religious/Spiritual? Fellow hobbyists?

In other words– Who are your peeps? And do they lift you up or suck you dry? Yes, it is OK (even recommended) to make changes that suit you.

Are you in transition, like me, and reformulating your communities? If so, here’s a question to ask yourself: what is something you used to love to do that you could pick up again, or build from?

In my case, I was recently invited to participate in an acroyoga workshop. I can’t even put into words how energized I felt by the mere invitation to do what I love again. What could you get interested in that lights you up?

You can actually create a life you love. You can live a life by design not by default– if you are willing to take action.

It can be tempting, for example, to blame others for not getting in touch, but what could shift if we made the first move?

What actions could you take to strengthen your relationships and energize your communities? Could be as simple as sending a text, making a call, telling a joke. What else?

How important is human connection to you? How important is a sense of community to you?

I am looking forward to exploring more community-oriented concepts this month!

Thank You for being part of my community and my life.

To Your Success!
